What to do this October half-term? We’ve got you!

Welcome to the best season of the year, Autumn! The weather is nice and everything around us is turning gold, yellow and orange. We don’t know about you, but we love Autumn and the October half-term holiday. We have prepared a list of autumn-themed activities you can do with your children this half term. For the small children and the older ones, for your small budget or your big one, we’ve got you covered!

5 children are playing with leaves in a park during autumn

King’s Cross Half-Term Fun (London)

The great people at King’s Cross have prepared a lot of activities for children of all ages and they’re all FREE OF CHARGE! Isn’t that grand? The activities range from spooky drawing sessions with a professional artist to fitness activities for children and their parents. You can also snap pictures at the famous Harry Potter platform while you’re there, play bing-bong, see a movie and visit the floating bookshop!

All the half-term
activities at King’s Cross are free for your children to enjoy and the neighbourhood is traffic free so you can walk around safely.

Halloween in the City (Manchester)

If you happen to be in Manchester this half-term, then you are in great luck! Halloween in the City is a massive festival that will hit the streets of Manchester on the 29th of October. This family-friendly show will include a roaming monster circus, sideshow stalls and a kid’s carousel! You can also show off your Halloween costumes at the festival and take part in various exclusive activities.

All the Halloween in the City shows happen in the streets of Manchester and are free of charge.

Pumpkin Festival at Crockford Bridge Farm (Surrey)

What are autumn and Halloween without pumpkins?! Take your whole family to the Crockford Bridge Farm for a full day of pumpkin picking and autumn-themed activities this half-term. Walk around their beautiful farm and choose the perfect pumpkin! You can then head to the pumpkin carving station where the children will be guided through carving amazing designs into their chosen pumpkin. There are also roving entertainers, photo opportunities and food vendors all over the festival.

Crockford Bridge Farm entry fee is £4 per person and the festival is free of charge.

The Story Museum (Oxford)

If you are up for something a little different this half-term than all the autumn and Halloween festivities then you must check out The Story Museum in Oxford. This one-of-a-kind museum will take your children on a real-life adventure throughout the story world. They will get to walk around sets dressed as different universes from the information portal to the Whispering Forest with its many secrets to the Enchanted Library where they get to dive into the story head first.

The Story Museum tickets are £10 per person.

Ascarium: Tricks & Treats at Sea Life (Many locations)

For our last recommendation, we chose the ever wonderful Sea Life! This half-term Sea Life is going all the way into the Halloween spirit with Ascarium: Tricks & Treats. Your children will get to meet Serafina the Sea Witch and help her assist her fellow sea creatures by completing tasks and challenges around the aquarium. This sea-filled adventure will be full of fun and educational activities for your children and they get various rewards as they complete their tasks.

Ascarium tickets start at £13 per person and vary depending on your location.

We told you the October half-term is just superior with its endless possibilities and fun activities all over the country! We chose the most exciting activities we can find that will also not break the bank this holiday. Let us know which activity you would like to try and if you have any other ideas we can share with parents.

Remember that even if you don’t feel like doing any of those activities, just a walk in the park collecting funny-shaped golden leaves can be a great way to spend the half-term! Pair this with some delicious toffee apples and you’re good to go!

If you have decided to go out this half-term, then you will definitely need our top tip for a successful day out with the children!
